Welcome to My Sims 3 Legacy

Welcome to The Janes' Legacy! As most Sims fans know, a legacy challenge is a Sims 3  ten generation challenge where you try and reach ten generations. The original rules are by Pinstar, but I won't be following these rules to the T. In fact, I'll be following a few extremely simple rules:

1) No cheats (for money, relationships ANYTHING! The inheritance LTR is okay, though)

New 1) I'm gonna use cheats and mods. Yeah, I'm not good at following my own rules.

2) Try to reach ten generations

3) The heir must be a biological child of the heir prior to them (A step child, niece/nephew, etc. can't be heir) and each heir must have at least two children

New 3) The heir must be a biological child of the heir prior to them.

4) The heir can't move to a new lot until the heir before them has died.

New 4) Erhm. They can move whenever I get bored and decide what the hey, let's get them a new
      home.

5) Heirs will be decided by a vote by the readers

New 5) Nahh... I'll pick the heir or let readers vote

Sooo....those are the rules  for the challenge. Each  generation will be ten to twenty chapters, a heir vote might follow the end.

Posts will be updated every Thursday and Sunday OR whenever I get a certain number of comments or views OR whenever I feel like it. The posting time is pretty broad, so following by email might be helpful.  (I usually post how may views/comments and when I've updated  here, hint, hint.)

If you want to know a little about me, I've been a Simmer since Thanksgiving 2012, I've done several challenges (That I'm still currently working on) before this one that I'm not proud of (the writing isn't very good, I was rather amateur or I quit) called Alyssa Terrans' 100 Baby Challenge, Tracked, Klepto Mania: A Sims 3 Story. I like reading, writing, and Simming in my free time. I'm trying to focus on my writing in this challenge, instead of  "Oooo! Pictures!" Which, regrettably, is why I don't really like my past one hundred baby challenge.

Expansion Packs/Worlds I have are:
1) Late Night
2) Generations
3)  Ambitions
4) Seasons
5)  Pets
6) Supernatural
7) World Adventures
8) University Life
9) Monte Vista
10) Sunlit Tides
11) Showtime
12) Riverview
13) Island Paradise
14) Hidden Springs
15) Town Life

I use some CC/mods from various sites for my Sims clothing and hair, in case you don't like CC/mods you have been warned (*Bwahaha* Cue the evil laughter....oh my whole "professional" blogger thing I wanted to portray isn't working out, is it?). All Sims (Excluding the townies) will be up for download under the Family Tree tab. Unless I forget.

I hope you enjoy the Janes journey!

-Hugs-
Jill

P.S. Thanks for reading :)

  6. I've done a legacy challenge before (I got to gen 7 before the file corrupted). But I've always wanted to do a blog about it. Any tips on a new legacy blogger?

    1. I'm glad that you're wanting to start your own legacy blog; it's an entertaining and rewarding experience. :D Thanks for asking for my tips, here are a few that I attempt to (and occasionally fail to) abide by:

      1. Proof read every post before you publish it. It can be off putting to readers if your posts do not utilize punctuation correctly or if there are common grammatical errors (like misusing your and you're or there, their, and they're).

      2. Include relevant pictures in your posts and use creative descriptors. It can be daunting for readers if there are walls of text with no images (in a legacy's case, these images would be screenshots of your game) to help keep their eyes from straying, especially if you use the word "pretty" or "bad" or "said" a multitude of times. I advise skimming this list so you avoid overusing any words: http://justenglish.me/2014/04/18/synonyms-for-the-96-most-commonly-used-words-in-english/

      3. Don't be writing for the numbers. When you first start blogging, you will not instantly be receiving hundreds of views or comments each day, it'll take time. Don't feel disappointed if you only have a few commenters, instead be grateful that they're reading what you've written and offering feedback. Reply to their comments ASAP, so they're aware that you're appreciative of them. If some of the readers offer constructive criticism, graciously take it- If you become upset and delete their comment, ignoring their advise (such as, "please use more commas"), you will not be able to refine your writing skills. furthermore, your should ensure that you publish rather frequently, until you develop a reader base. If you publish one post a month, most people are going to forget that you're blogging or presume you've ceased working on your blog; you should aim to publish at least once or twice a week. If you don't publish any chapters for an extended period of time, make sure that you update your readers and let them know that you haven't quit.

      4. Read a copious amount. It doesn't matter if you're reading other legacies (however, if you do, be sure to comment and support those bloggers; if you support them, they're more likely to support you) or novels, reading will help inspire you and also help improve your grammar.

I hope these tips help you (and remember, these are what have helped me; they may not apply to everyone) and am excited to see how your legacy goes! :D
